Jacob James Rogers, 79, farmer and canner, died Tuesday morning at his home in Elkins. He was county surveyor in Madison County for about 20 years, and was a member of the Church of Christ. He moved to Elkins about 15 years ago from Japton, where he was born.
Surviving are four sons, Fred and Scott, both of Elkins, and Miles and Tom, both of Japton; four daughters, Mrs. Theresa Spurlock, Mrs. Nola Harriman and Mrs. Amanda Johnson, all of Japton, and Mrs. Nettie Hoskins, Elkins; a brother, Scott Rogers, of La Habra, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Eubanks of Haskell, Okla., and Mrs. Sadie Grant of Independence, Kas.; 31 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted by Robt. Reed at the home and the Japton church and burial was made in the Gross cemetery. The pallbearers were grandsons, Wilburn Rogers, Kenneth Rogers, Thomas Hoskins, Arlis Hoskins, Junior Spurlock and Berdis Rogers
