Research Notes

After Frances Marion Temple father died he helped with the farming and cared for the family. About 1850 he moved to Crawford County, AR and settled in the Flat rock Community east of Van Buren, Crawford County, AR; about 1853 they moved to Olive Springs Community near Rudy, AR. Frances enlisted in the Union Army Co. D 1st Arkansas Volunteer Cavalry in 1862. He was in the Battle of Fayetteville, Elkhorn and was wounded at Prairie Grove. He was discharged at Fayetteville, Washington County, AR in 1865. He homesteader one hundred and sixty acres of land about four miles northwest of Rudy, AR and lived there until his death. They were Methodist.
