Howell, Samuel Carl Samuel Carl Howell (Written for the Herald.) Samuel Carl Howell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Howell of near Bethel Grove, was born Nov. 30, 1892, and departed this life in Prairie Grove, Feb. 13, following an illness of pneumonia, age 37 years, 2 months, and 11 days. Carl professed faith in Christ a number of years ago and united with the Little Elm Baptist church and lived a member of that church several years. Funeral services were conducted Friday morning at the Presbyterian church in Prairie Grove among a host of sorrowing friends and relatives, by Rev. O. L. Lierly, assisted by Rev. Sam Farmer and Rev. J. F. McCuistion. He was married to Miss Alice Gaines and to this union were born seven children. One child died two years ago. Besides his family, he is survived by his aged parents, three sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Elmer Atchison, Mrs. Verner Atchison and Mrs. Robert McWhorter of Prairie Grove, and Bruce Howell of near Little Elm, and O. D. Branson of Leveland, Texas. C. Lee sang beautifully “Come Now and Around Me Stand.” The floral offering showed the tribute of love for the bereaved ones. Burial was made in the Farmington cemetery.
