Martha Lou Thurman

Age 75, a beloved resident of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. She was born on December 20, 1949, in Zanesville, Ohio, the daughter of Ivers Theodore and Hattie Elizabeth (Mayfield) West.

Martha lived a life full of love, laughter, and simple joys. She cherished every moment spent with her family, especially her dogs and horses, who brought her endless comfort and companionship. One of her favorite pastimes was exploring flea markets with her sisters — a shared adventure filled with stories, laughter, and treasured finds.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Keith Thurman; her parents; two brothers, Gerald Dean West and Robert Lee West; and one sister, Elizabeth Elaine West.

Martha is survived by her daughter, Patricia Amburgey (Rick) ; her son, Jerry Thurman; one step-son, Michael Thurman; and one step-daughter, Melodie Thurman. She also leaves behind six siblings — Ted West (Maggie), Richard West (Beth), Vicky Wilhite (Rick), Sandra Wilhite (Don), Carol Gulley (Keith), and Cheryl Randolph (Curtis), and one sister-in-law Linda West.

Her legacy continues through her seven grandchildren — Chris Musteen (Brittany), Nicholas Musteen (Haley), Allison Musteen, Jordan Thurman, Sierra Thurman, Thomas Thurman (Amy), and Michelle Thurman — as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

The family will receive friends Sunday, October 26, 2025, 2:00-3:00 PM at Luginbuel Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, October 27th, 2025, at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. Burial will be in the Bethesda Cemetery in Morrow, Arkansas, there will be no graveside service held.

This woman was the type of woman that would give you the shirt off of her back if it meant it would help. She loved her family fiercely and truly beloved that a solid family from was one of gods greatest gifts. In a time where emotions have been heightened it is, I can hear her say “ this isn’t forever once we get there though it will be magic” just have to move past the hard stuff.
