Grace Ann Dodd

1946 — 2026
Obituary

Grace Ann Dodd was born on March 17, 1946, in Valley View, North Dakota. She dedicated many years of her life working as a housekeeper, a role she carried out with pride, care, and attention to detail. Above all, Grace was a devoted homemaker who created a warm, welcoming home filled with love. She was cherished by many; her smile could light up any room, and her laughter brought comfort and joy to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Grace found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved traveling, tending to her garden, and spending time playing Bingo—activities that reflected her joyful spirit and love of connection with others.

She faced life’s challenges with remarkable strength and courage, including a hard-fought battle with cancer. Through it all, she never lost hope or her fighting spirit. Grace truly lived up to her name—a blessing to all who knew her—and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Samuel Dodd Sr.; her daughter, Darlene Krugler; her parents, Dale and Dora Smith; her siblings, Carol Barham, Bob Smith, Eddie Smith, and Chuck Smith; and her great-nephew, Taylor Nall.

Grace is survived by her loving children, Julie Dodd and Rodney Higgs, and Samuel Dodd Jr. and Cara Dodd. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Jared Murphy; Demarkus and Tia Cooper; Austin Sturdivant; Samantha and Samuel Dodd III; and Scotty and Cody Grubbs, along with several great-grandchildren who will carry on her legacy.

A celebration of Grace’s life will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park.
