Curtis Warren Reed
90, of Lincoln, Arkansas, passed from this life on November 20, 2010 in Culpepper Place in Springdale. He was born on October 26, 1920 on Skylight Mountain, the son of Ambrose Ray and Stella Sally Glidewell.
Curtis served in the United States Navy during WWII in the Pacific after working for the Railway Express. He was a truck driver for Hilton Bros, Cudhay Packing Company and ABF Trucking with over a million miles on the road. He enjoyed raising cattle, making a garden and his apple orchard. His apples won first place several years at the Lincoln Apple Festival. He was a 60 year member of the American Legion and former commander. He was active, in the Masonic Lodge in Lincoln and Cane Hill, Apple Festival and VFW. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Lincoln for over 60 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Joe Reed, sister Teressa Reed, and wife Opal “Sally” to whom he was married for 65 years.
Survivors include one son Jerry Reed and wife Netta of Springdale, Arkansas; one daughter Judith Ann and husband Ivan Faulkner of Fayetteville, Arkansas; one grandson Emery Faulkner and wife Younee; one granddaughter Jill Glasshagel and husband Bryan and two great-grandsons; Jack and Louie and a host of friends and family.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. at the Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove.
A celebration of Curtis’ life will be on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 - 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Lincoln, Arkansas, with Ivan Faulkner officiating with burial in Bethesda Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Chenowetch, Carthel Petty, Bryan Reed, Fred Hays, Roy Jackson, Harry Bryant, Connie Reed, Neal Reed, Herman Cox, Harold Leo Reed, Rosalee Glidewell, Marc Robison, Terry Reed, Phyllis Reed, and Gary Reed.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the Circle of Life for their care of Curtis and especially his nurse Lynette Bennett.
