Holt was born on Dec 2, 1823 in Tennessee and died July 9, 1859 in Washington County, AR. His parents were John “Jack” Holt (1823-1859) and Elizabeth Pogue (1806-1868). Joseph Earls Holt was previously married to Malinda Elizabeth Taylor (1832-1950) and they had one daughter Elizabeth Ellen Holt (850-1921). His probate will appoints Lewis Collins (Angeline’s father) and Leonidas Holt (Earls’ brother) as executors, Joseph Earls Holt is buried in Beaty Cemetery in Lincoln, AR.
