The Smith Rankins lived on the ancestral farm near Milledgeville, Ohio, with their 5 childre: Hanna; Rachel; Reuben "Mack"; Caroline; Martha Allen. ... ======== copy of pages 205 & 206 from unknown Book: by Nina Kathryn Smith Davis; SMITH RANKIN FAMILY Smith Rankin, great-great-granson of David Rankin, who emigrated from Ireland to Frederick Co., Virginia, about 1738 was the son of Jacob A. and Elizabeth Carr [Kerr] Rankin. Smith married Parthenia Wood, daughter of Jacob and rachel Ramey Wood. The house in which they lived still stands, and although it has bed additions and some improvements, it looks much the same as it did in 1910. Their children: Hanna; Rachel Ann; Reuben; Martha Ellen; Kathryn. .. Smith was very industrious and acquired a farm of 300 acres. He was not an office seeker, but he served as justice of the peace for more than 20 years. when the post office was moved from Plymouth to Milledgeville in 1878, he was appointed postmaster and held that office for several years. Mr. Rankin, known as Squire Rankin, died at the age of 70 and is buried in the Milledgeville Cemetery. Contributor: kj (48531000)
