Martha Ellen Oden Was born at Cincinnati, Washington County, Arkansas, September 22, 1859, moved with her parents to Emporia, Kansas, when a small child, and later moved to Texas. At the age of 20 years, she was married to James A. Oden at the home of her parents, A. G. and N. C. Reeder, in Chalk Mountain, Erath County, Texas, in 1879. They moved to Oklahoma in 1897. She was the mother of thirteen children, eleven boys and two girls; she died at the home of her son, J. I. Oden at Mangum, Okla., on November 1, 1918, aged 59 years, one month and nine days. She leaves a husband, ten boys, two girls, 35 grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters, and a host of friends to mourn her loss. She was converted when but a child and was true and faithful, living a devoted Christian life, loved by one and all.
