ALLEN, Elizabeth PETIIGREW - Mrs. Elizabeth Allen, wife of the late Wm. Allen, died at her home near Farmington, in this county, on Friday morning the 6th inst. Mrs. Allen was the eldest child and only daughter of the late Hon. George A. Pettigrew and Mrs. Sarah Pettigrew, who still survives, and was in the 61st year of her age. She had been a sufferer for several years with heart disease, which finally terminated fatally. She leaves five children - two daughters and three sons - to mourn the death of one of the best of mothers, and a host of relatives and friends who have the sympathy of the entire community. Mrs. Allen came to this county with her parents in 1830 and has ever since resided here. She was a native of Cole county, Missouri. The funeral of the deceased will take place at her late residence to-day {Saturday} at 10 o'clockA.M. [Fayetteville Democrat 7/7/77]
