Research Notes

He was married to Priscilla 'Jane' Whiteley ca. 1847. Jane, sometimes called 'Phoebe' Jane, was born in Arkansas, and died in the Buffalo River area of Newton County. Like his brother-in-law, Braxton Edgmon, he was ambushed and killed by bushwackers during the Civil War. His date of death is currently subject to debate, and may have even occured in late 1862. Memorial notes: The name suffix Jr was allowed per auto SAC on 8 Nov 2018. Complete date of death in lieu of year allowed per auto SAC on 14 Dec 2019. Gravesite Details Unmarked grave, intentionally buried without a marker, due to the times and circumstances.
