Research Notes

Elias Rankin was born 21 Mar 1795 in Pendleton District, SC a son of Robert Rankin and his second wife, Leah. He married in Caldwell County, KY on 19 Jan 1820 to Matilda Herring who was born in South Carolina. After residing in Caldwell County for the births of their children, Elias and Matilda moved to Sangamon County, IL and later to Iowa for a few years before settling in Fall Creek Township, Adams County, Illinois. Matilda died in Fall Creek Township between 1850 and 1860 and Elias died on 16 July 1871. Both are at rest in the Fall Creek Methodist Church Cemetery. Their children:
