MOORE, Fred - A telegram was received here Monday bringing the sad intelligence of the death of Fred, the eldest son of Col. and Mrs. E.B. Moore, which occurred at 3 o’clock that morning in Little Rock. Though his death was not unexpected it brings no less grief to the friends and relatives of the family in this city which was long their home. It is not enough to say that Fred was a good boy, he possessed in more than an ordinary degree the noble traits of both head and heart that always makes friends of the best of people and inevitably leads to exalted citizenship. This worthy young man fell a prey to consumption and has been cut down on the threshold of a useful life. The Gazette refers to his untimely death as follows: His loving parents exhausted every method known to science to restore him to health and sent him where he could breathe the fresh air of the mountains but all their efforts were futile for death had marked him for his own and on yesterday placed upon him his cold and icy seal. The deceased was nineteen years of age and his noble character and generous impulses obtained for him many friends who will sorely grieve when they hear of his death. His funeral takes place this afternoon at 3 o’clock from the family residence, Rev. Father Callahan oEciating. [Fayetteville Democrat 11/22/1889]
