David Rankin and Rebecca Job David Rankin was born about 1780 in Rutherford County, NC a son of Robert and Mary Witherow Rankin. David grew up in Rutherford County, NC and Pendleton District, SC where he witnessed a land transaction involving his father on 15 Apr 1796. By 1802, he had moved with his brothers James and John to Barren County, KY. For a short time, he lived with his father in Caldwell County, KY but by 1810 was living in Maury County, TN with his brother, James. He married in Maury County on 20 Oct 1810 to Rebecca Job who was born circa 1785. In Maury County, he purchased land on Bear Creek which he was to leave in the mid-1830s for Hardeman County, TN where, it is believed, he died prior to the taking of the 1850 census. Their children:
