PITTMAN, Mary Cener - {from The Fayetteville Daily, Thursday} Mary Cener Pittman, only child and daughter of Capt. and Mrs. Pink Pittman, entered into eternal rest at 1:30 o’clock this morning at her home on College Avenue. She had been in poor health for several years and has been confined to her bed since last February. During all the weary months of her long illness she has been patient, submissive and appreciative of the care given her, and when not in great pain she was as bright and cheerful as if she were in perfect health. The release of a spirit so pure and good is fraught with no sorrow for, but for the father and mother, who were called upon to give up their only son in the blush of early manhood, this second bereavement falls with peculiar severity. Every heart goes out to them in this sad hour and they have the profoundest sympathy of all their friends, who would fain console them in their great affliction. [The Springdale News 2/26/1904]
