BATES, John Miller, was born September 20, 1841 in Washington County, Arkansas and died September 4 1863, the son of Henderson A. Bates of Blount County, Tennessee and Nancy Miller, the daughter of James Miller and Elizabeth Reed of Kentucky. Subject was educated at Cane Hill, was a Democrat and a Cumberland Presbyterian.
