MARRS, Elizabeth WEST - No sadder announcement has shocked the
citizens of the Prairie Grove Valley than that which told of the sudden
taking off of Mrs. Elizabeth Marrs, wife of S.B. Marrs, Jr. yesterday. She
died at the family residence near Viney Grove within one mile of where she
was born in 1859. On yesterday she enjoyed her usual health and engaged
in the regular routine of every day life. Today her body “lies mouldering in
the clay” and her spirit has flown to God who gave it. The writer of this
article knew her in innocent childhood, knew her as she budded into sweet
womanhood and knew her when she was happily married some two years
ago and she has ever been a general favorite. She was the daughter of Mr.
Ed West, a man noted for his public spirit, charity and piety. She was reared
in “the way she should go” and never departed from it. Possessed of a bright
intellect, a gentle and modest disposition, she was a true friend, a dutiful
and reverential child and a devoted, faithful and affectionate wife. She
early consecrated herself to the Savior and was a devout Christian and had
been for many years a consistent member of the Methodist Church. AFriend.
