Nevada Cowan, 93, of Savoy died Oct. 3, 2008. She was born Aug. 26, 1915, in Tuttle, Okla., to Clifford Southard and Sarah Ward Southard. She was a longtime member of Howe-Savoy Community Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading and bird-watching. She moved to Northwest Arkansas in 1940 from Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ewell Cowan, in 1994; son, Kendell Black and daughter, Sharon Ward. Survivors include her sister, Deenie Potter of Brazil, Ind.; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Black of Rogers; three grandchildren, Kendell Black and wife Azalea of Germantown, Tenn., Dr. Randall Black and wife Cindy of Rogers, Lendell Black and wife Karen of Fayetteville; six great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Farmington Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Hinson officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3291 S. Thompson St., Suite D 104, Springdale, 72764. Arrangements are by Stockdale Funeral Services in Rogers.
