Guy Roderick Matthews Age 72, a resident of Prairie Grove, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. He was born April 16, 1946 in Prairie Grove, the son of Roderick Gaston and Dolla M. (Ingram) Matthews. Guy had the GEM Tax Service for 45 years serving around 200 clients. He and his wife Erma owned and operated the Colonial Cafe over 35 years and Colonial Motel for the last 42 years and is still operating today. Guy was a Christian man and is a member of the Howe-Savoy Bible Church. He was an active member of the Gideons International. Guy loved to sing and tell jokes. He will be missed by his friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Earlene Louise Matthews Survivors include his wife of 51 years Erma Jean Matthews; one son Tony Guy Matthews and wife Cassandra Marie of Bentonville; three grandchildren Allison Kay, Katie Grace and Evan Guy. The family will receive friends Friday, July 20, 2018, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the Luginbuel Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, July 21st, 2018, at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove. Burial will be in the Prairie Grove Cemetery, there will be no graveside service held.
