ALLISON, Martha J. - Died at the family residence in Washington
county, Ark. Sept. 25th, 1885, Mrs. Martha J. Allison, wife of T.P. Allison,
Esq. Mrs. Allison was a native of York county, South Carolina but for many
years past has resided in Arkansas. A child of the covenant and trained up
in the virtue and admonition of the Lord. She early gave her heart to the
saviour and connected herself with the Presbyterian church, to whose doctrines
and order she was intelligently and firmly attached. She was a warmhearted,
active and earnest Christian and her life was a beautiful and effective
testimony to the power and preciousness of the gospel. In her domestic
relations she was peculiarly happy, endowed by nature with a fine
mind, a warm heart and a bright and amiable disposition and by Grace
with many of the noblest graces of the Christian character she was the
light of her husband’s eyes, and the wise, fond and tenderly loved mother
of a large and interesting family. The church, of which she was an honored
and useful member, and a wide circle of friends mourn with her stricken
and bereaved family over what appears to us her untimely death. AFriend.
