HOWELL, Wiley B. - Tribute of Respect -At a call meeting of Billingsley
Grange, No. 154, Washington county, Ark. held March loth, 1876, the following
resolutions of respect were adopted on the death of our Worthy
Brother Wiley B. Howell, who died on the evening of the 8th of pneumonia.
Resolved, 1st. That we as citizens have lost a true friend, as P. of H., a
worthy brother of our order, his wife a true husband and his children a
devoted father. 2nd. That we console them in this, that he fell asleep in the
arms of Jesus; that his soul ascended to God who gave it and that we have
abundant reasons'to believe is now at rest on the bright shore of eternal
deliverance. 3rd. That in his death we are again forcibly reminded that
here we have no abiding city and in his departure we are admonished to be
ready to enter the realms of the blest when called. 4th. That we extend to
his beloved widow, stricken children and friends our warmest fraternal
sympathy in their loss and commend them to Him whose tender mercies
are over all His works. 5th. That we wear the usual badge of mourning for
thirty days. 6th. That a copy of these resolutions be spread on the minutes
of this Grange and that the family be furnished with the same, and a copy
be furnished the Fayetteville Democrat for publication, requesting the Sentinel,
Van Buren Press, Ozark Banner and State Grange to copy the same.
Signed, John P.A. Parks, John Phillips, R.O. Hannah, Com. [Fayetteville
