Phil Weaver a prominent and well known fruit grower of Washington county, died at his country home near Prairie Grove shortly afternoon Sunday. His death is attributed to heart disease. Mr. Weaver is said to have been in good health that morning and was preparing to attend a birthday dinner in Prairie Grove. He died shortly after being stricken. He was nearly 50 years old. Funeral services were held at the Prairie Grove M.E. Church Tuesday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. H.G. Finney and Rev. F.M. Freysthlay of Fayetteville and Rev. E.E. Davidson of Prairie Grove. In the death of Mr. Weaver Washington county loses one of its best citizens as well as one of it's largest fruit growers. Mr. Weaver was born in Texas in 1886 where he grew to manhood. He attended and graduated from the Texas A. and M. college and later owned a greenhouse and florist shop in Mineral Wells. He came to Washington county in 1930 and located near Prairie Grove and engaged in fruit growing. At one time he had the largest acreage of strawberries in the Ozarks. He was vice president of the Arkansas Nurserymen's Association and an active member of the State Horticultural Society. Besides his widow, Mrs. Martha Hill Weaver, he leaves four children as well as several brothers and sisters.
