Gladys Rankin

Gladys Rankin graduated from Springdale High School, and completed her Nurses training at Sparks School of Nursing in Fort Smith, AR. She went into government nursing and was stationed in Memphis, TN. She transferred to the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville, Washington County, AR when the hospital opened. She recalls that a man by the name of George Washington was sitting on the steps of the hospital when it open to be the first patient. She work at the V.A. Hospital for 38 years.
