NEAL, Bora - Our youthful friend, Bora Neal, son of our honored citizen, Col. J.P. Neal, departed this life on Friday, April 28th, 1882, at the age of twenty-one years after about eighteen years of continual suffering, occasioned by spinal affection. No pains were spared to furnish him relief, but the best medical skill failed and his visits to watering places proved fruitless; but at length death came and freed his spirit from its prison cell of pain and bore him away to a brighter home. His funeral, conducted by Rev. Calaway, was largely attended by his sorrowing friends. [Fayetteville Democrat 5/11/82]
