(32) JOHN SANFORD 5 EDMISTON, (Zebulon Brevard ,4 etc.), was born 31 Dec, 1856; died 25 Dec. 1916 1n Washington, D.C.; married 6 May 1900 to Alice Lee Lacy (dau, of Thomas Henderson and Mary Eliza (McClellan) Lacy), born 12 July 1856; died 6 May 1946. They are both buried 1n Edmiston Cemetery, Morrow, Ark.
Graduating from Cane Hill College in 1876, he taught for one year at the College, then in Sebastian County, and then in Barnum, Texas. Returning to Cane Hill, he entered business at the family store which he and his son later operated as J.S. Edmiston and Son, until 1908.
He served as President of Cane Hill Canning Company; Vice-president of the Bank of Cane Hill. For forty years he was an active teacher in the C.P.Church. His extensive collection or books was presented to the Cane Hill Community Library.

At one time Prairie Grove had three banks operating at
the same time. This was from August, 1912 until August,
1914.
The first bank organized here was the Bank of Prairie
Grove in 1901. Officers were: J. S. Edmiston, president;
E. C. Carl, vice-president; and W. G. Collier, cashier and
secretary.
Other stockholders were: J. E. Franklin, I. H. Ford,
R. L. McCoy, F. H. Carl, C. L. Cummings, G. W. Nixon,
J. H. Brewster, D. N. McCormick, J. P. Edmiston,
G. 0. D. Moore, Jonathan Wilkison, W. W. Moore, Fannie
Woody, J. B. Pearson, J. T. Carl, W. T. McCormick,
L. C. McCormick, W. H. Simpson, W. D. Moore,
W. R. Wallace, Van W. Carl, D. N. Edmiston, and
J. H. Marlar.
