Delia LaVerne Cooper
Age 82, a resident of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed from this life, Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024. She went to be with the Lord and family peacefully in her sleep in her own home.
LaVerne, the youngest of seven children, was born on March 16th, 1942, to Melvin and Hazel Chandler in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
After graduating from Fayetteville High School, she worked for Baldwin Piano Company, where she met and fell in love with Keith Cooper. They were married on December 23, 1961. LaVerne and Keith went on to have two children and four grandchildren during their life together.
LaVerne ran a daycare in her home for forty plus years where she nurtured and taught a multitude of children. She was also very active in community service including serving as a den mother with the Boy Scouts of America, and a scout leader with the Girl Scouts and volunteer work with the Farmington Library.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren. She made it a priority to be in attendance at all of their activities (which meant shuttling between Fayetteville and Little Rock). She also enjoyed fellowship with many friends in the Red Hat Society. She was a member of the Fayetteville Red Hats chapter and a founding member of the Farmington Red Hats chapter. LaVerne and Keith also enjoyed many adventures traveling together in the US and abroad.
She is survived by her son, Brad Cooper (Nita), her daughter Sherry Massey (Brad), and her four grandchildren: Bryant Cooper, Olivia Cooper, Seth Massey, and Kailee Massey.
The family will have a private graveside service at Whitehouse Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.
