Raymond Blakemore, the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Burke Blakemore of White Church community. was born in August, 1899 and died in Camp Beauregard, La., Nov. 28. 1917, of a complication of measles and pneumonia, after about 2 weeks' illness. Raymond's short life was spent at Stilwell and in and around here. When the call for volunteers to defend our country came, Raymond volunteer- ed His commanders say that he was a good soldier. That he was true and bidable to his superiors While his life was not taken by the enemy it has been snuffed out for some purpose. Just why this is we can not understand.

Raymond a member of the Methodist church at Lincoln. The funeral services were conducted here at the Southern Presbyterian church by the Rev. Armstrong of Lincoln a former pistor, who was assisted by the Rev. Knox of this place. The interment was made in the College Cemetery. His re mains were brought home by Priy ate Harrell Knox who enlisted Raymon last summer XX
