George T Boyd, 90, a longtime resident of Bergman died peacefully at his home, Saturday, July 18, 2015.
Visitation will be at Holt Memorial Chapel, Harrison, Arkansas, from 6-8 p.m., Monday, July 20. Graveside service will be held at Martin Cemetery near Norfork, Arkansas at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 21. Galen Phifer will officiate. Pallbearers will be Terry Boyd, Mark Boyd, Jerry S. Boyd, Kyle Boyd, Justin Boyd and Trevor Boyd.
George was born July 22, 1924 at Martin Springs, Arkansas.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman First Class with the 33rd Special Naval Construction Battalion (Sea Bees) in the Philippines during World War II. He spent 25 years working construction on numerous dams and locks across the country, and 21 years as a machinist for Duncan Parking Meters in Harrison, Arkansas. After retiring, he enjoyed working on his farm, fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Thomas Boyd, his mother Lucy Caroline Boyd, seven brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Clara Louise Boyd, four sons: Mike Boyd (Brenda) of Bergman, Jerry E. Boyd (Robin) of Cookeville, Tennessee, Dennis G. Boyd (Karen) of Fayetteville and Bryan Boyd of Bergman; one brother Marlin Boyd, his wife Lula Mae, and sister-in-law, Bernice; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; beloved pets: his mule Jake and his dogs, Cassidy and Cheyenne.
