Raymond Eugene Clark

70 years old of Farmington, Washington County, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 5, 2023.

He graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1970. He was an avid sportsman participating in an assortment of rodeo and racing activities. Raymond rode bareback horses and bulls throughout high school at several arenas including Parson’s Stadium in Springdale. He went on to train horses for Gene Goff of Goff Farms from 1969-1971. In 1971 and continuing through 1994 he began both riding and training horses for John Askew. They ran horses in Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, AR, Fairmount Park in St. Louis, MO, Cahokia Downs in Chicago, IL, Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, FL, Arlington Park in Arlington Heights, IL, Delta Downs in Vinton, LA, and Thistle Downs in Cleveland, OH. He also rode Quarter Horses for Judge Cummings at Blue Ribbon Downs in Sallisaw, OK. After leaving Goff Farms, he privately trained horses for various people, including Lou Holtz and Mike Conley.

Raymond also raced Flat Track motorcycles from 1974-1977. He set the track record for the fastest speed on the track in 1976 (and the record still stands today). Raymond raced stock cars from 1984-1988.

Throughout the late 80’s and 90’s he was the voice of the Greenland Pirates, announcing football games while both his sons, Travis and Justin played football.

He worked for Arkansas Western Gas from 1994-1999 and went on to work for Bob Gaddy Farm as farm manager from 1994-2004. In 2004 he went on to work for several home builders, including Roth Custom Homes, First Star Custom Homes, and Landmark Custom Homes.

In 2017 Raymond became an ordained minister. He performed three marriage ceremonies and was an active member of his church, Living Faith in Fayetteville.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Ola Mae “Tiny” Clark; one sister, Wanda Elaine Clark; and grandson, Felix Bolser.

He is survived by his wife of the home, Cherilyn Marie Clark; two sons, Travis Clark and wife Molly of Fayetteville and Justin Clark and wife Kristal of Prairie Grove; four bonus children, Michael Bolser and wife Angie of Springdale, Stephanie Grissom and husband Kevin of Prairie Grove, Raymond Dreves and wife Natasha of Elkins, and Darrian Conner and husband Isaac of Wesley; 13 grandchildren, Suannah, Breyden, Kody, Beau, K’Ola-Shae, Klayton, Jessica, Carson, Madison, Serenity, Riley, Raylan, and Wesley.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, February 13, 2023 at Living Faith Church in Fayetteville with Pastor Steve Curtis officiating. Interment will follow in Stuckey Cemetery in Johnson, AR.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Living Faith Church.

Pallbearers will be Dylan Phillips, Chris Fallen, Jonathan Curtis, Frank McDuffee, Johnny Deaton and Brian Deaton. Honorary pallbearers are his 13 grandchildren, of whom he was a very proud Papa.
