Betty Weaver Cole

83, a resident of Joplin, Missouri. died April 22 in a Bethesda, MD hospital, following a stroke. She was born December 1, 1928, the daughter of Philip and Martha Hill Weaver of Prairie Grove, Arkansas.

She received Bachelor and Master degrees from the University of Arkansas and taught in the Joplin Public Schools for 34 years. She was an active member of the Missouri and National Education Associations and of Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers’ Society. She was active in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Joplin.

She married Richard Cole of Joplin in 1977, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her brother, James Weaver, of Bethesda, MD, her nephews, Michael and Eric Weaver, and her niece, Elizabeth Weaver. She is also survived by her step children, Janice Tate, Mary Lee Keeling, Donna Bechold, and Richard Cole, Jr. l
