Virgie Julie Hathorn, 78, of Huntsville died March 7 at Meadow Lodge in Huntsville. She was born Feb. 7, 1908, in Purdy, to John and Eva Floyd Sparks. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband Coleman Hathorn of the home; six sons, Raymond Hathorn of Norwalk, Calif., Jack Hathorn of Springdale, Fred Hathorn of Shelton, Wash., J.D. Hathorn of Independence, Mo., Carl Hathorn of Buckner, Mo., and Herb Hathorn of Huntsville; one daughter, Mrs. Lois Hasuam of Mission, Texas; one brother, Carl Sparks of Ava, Mo.; one sister, Mrs. Artie Eaton of Washington State; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held Monday in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy I. Cain officiating with burial in Upper Campground Cemetery under direction of Brashears Funeral Home.
