Sunset Community, Washington County, Winslow, Arkansas
Rosemary Porter Bryant, age 86, of Van Alstyne, Texas lost her battle with multiple myeloma Friday, April 25, 2014.
She was born May 10, 1927 in Sunset, Arkansas, the daughter of Lambert Alonzo Porter and Mida Dockery Porter.
Rosemary attended the University of Arkansas where she met her “Prince Charming” and the love of her life, James Bryant. They were married August 4, 1947.
Rosemary and Jim lived in Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana, New Mexico, Georgia, Germany, Hawaii and many other places before settling in Van Alstyne, Texas. Jim always said “home is where we hang our hat.”
Rosemary was a talented artist and craftswoman. She taught herself to knit, crochet, sew and quilt. She leaves behind a grieving family that includes her church family in Van Alstyne. Rosemary has gone home and we will go on but her presence will always be in our lives in the quilts, afghans, sweaters, paintings, pot holders and so many things that she made for us. We know that her love was worked into all of these things and we will treasure them as we did her.
She is survived by her sons, Douglas Bryant of Columbus, Ohio and Marc Bryant of Irving, Texas; her daughters, Michelle Bryant of Sacramento, California and Jennifer Bryant and her husband Andrew Layman of Houston, Texas; her grandsons, Brandon Bryant, Drew Layman, Dane Bryant and Ivan Barnes; her sisters, Eileen Tuck and Bonnie Barnett.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Moore’s Chapel. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at Moore’s Chapel followed by burial at the Fayetteville National Cemetery.
