MOORE, John R. - Tribute of Respect - Resolutions adopted by the Cincinnati Sunday school on the death of John R. Moore: Whereas, It has pleased God in His providence to remove from our midst Bro. John R. Moore, who for 45 years was a consistent Christian, for many years the teacher of the senior Bible
class in the Sunday School and for 30 years an honored and respected citizen of this community; in view of these facts we offer the following resolutions. Resolved, That in death of Bro. John R. Moore the church has lost one of its ablest and wisest counselors, who was always ready to give reason for the faith that was in him; the Sunday
School loses its senior teacher, thereby suffering a loss that is irreparable; the community one of its oldest and most highly respected citizens who was always ready to defend the right and condemn the wrong, and the family a kind and affectionate father. 2. That in the future we try to imitate his example and labor more zealously for the cause of
Christianity; that we may be ready for the solemn change that awaits us all. 3. That we tender our sincere sympathy to the bereaved family, and say to them that we do not mourn without hope, for we have abundant testimony in his life and character that when life and its cares, labor and suffering were over, he received the welcome plaudit, 'Well done thou
good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joys of thy Lord." 4. That the secretary furnish the bereaved family a copy of these resolutions, also a copy to the county papers for publication. (Signed) John Parks, Jesse Tunnell. A.A. Medearis - Committee [Fayetteville Democrat3!8/ 1894]
