Ancel Paul Waterson, age 89, of West Fork, Arkansas passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021 in Fayetteville. He was born on March 26, 1931 in Bugscuffle, Arkansas to Orben and Dessie Lee Waterson. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Arline Brock Waterson, granddaughter Jayme Dalynn Yates, son-in-law Donald Fox, and siblings Bob Waterson, Wanda Ruth Doke, and David Waterson.
Ancel served in the Marine Corp from 1952-1954. He was one of the founding members of the West Fork Volunteer Fire Dept. in the early 1960’s. He purchased a water delivery business in the mid 1960’s and shortly after purchased a backhoe and dump truck creating Waterson Construction Company which he ran until 1994. At which time he turned the company over to his son with him supervising until 2000 when he retired to the farm. But even though the construction company was no longer in operation he continued the water hauling business until 2016 which is still operated as an automated coin system today. He was a past Board Member of Washington Water Authority. He helped with the construction of the South Washington County Water Loop to supply good quality water to everyone in the county. He was the financial provider for the 1.2 mile extension of the Arkansas Western Gas line on Hwy 156 in West Fork. He served many years in different capacities of the West Fork City Government and was a Board Member of the West Fork Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife Kathy Waterson of the home; children, Shirley Fox, Rodney (Carla) Waterson, and Joanna (Kenny) Yates all of West Fork, Arkansas; grandchildren, Megan (Chad) Wootton, Alicia (Jerrall) Everett; Kenlea (Dan) Baker, Melissa Waterson, Trudy Yates, Kari Waterson, Christopher (Silva) Waterson, and Dessa Yates; great-grandchildren, McKenzie (Connor) Johnson, Jaxon Everett, Ory Baker, Ayden Pierson, Addyson Baker, Aubrey Wootton, Carter Brock Waterson, and Henry Wootton; great-great-grandchild, Landon Johnson; step-children, Rebecca (Brian) Thomason, Ricky (Leslie) Bryant, and Kimberly (Dennis) Clardy; seven step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 11, 2021 at West Fork Cemetery.
