A. Y. Reeder Dead.
After an illness of only a few days which confined him to his bed, Mr. A. Y. Reeder, one of this section oldest and best known citizens, died at the Central Hotel in this city last Saturday night about nine o'clock.
The body was held for burial awaiting the arrival of children from a distance until Monday afternoon when interment was made in the Clifton Cemetery in the presence of a large crowd of relatives and old friends who came from all across the country to witness the last sad rites of this aged citizen. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Jas. F. Hardie, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, in a most impressive manner.
Deceased was January 17, 1836, making him 77 years, one month and twenty-one days old at the time of his death.
Mrs. D. M. Fry, Brownwood; Judge C. E. Reeder, Gale; W. A. Reeder, Fluyanna; R. C. Reeder, Bridgeport; Mrs. J. Dansby and Mrs. J. N. Hill of this place were the children present at the funeral. The only absent child was J. D. Reeder, who is in Arizona, and could not be reached with a message in time to get here. Ira Reeder, a grand son of Gates, was also here.
