Angela Rae Scott was born Sept. 11, 1970, and went home to live with her Lord July 8, 2014.
Angela leaves behind her husband of 20 years, Carl, and teenage children, Peyton Kaylee, 18, and Jaren James, 14, all of Bella Vista. She is also survived by her parents, Leonard (Mac) and Glenda McMurry of Prairie Grove, Ark.; her sister, Trina Alaniz and her husband, Jeff Alaniz, of Springdale, Ark.; a niece, Sheniah Doss, and nephew, Braydon Doss, both of Springdale, Ark. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Russa Lou Stout and her husband, Don, of Wichita Falls, Texas; and father-in-law, Carl J. Scott and his wife, Mary Beth, of Muskogee, Okla. She is also survived by hundreds of students at Gravette High School and co-workers at Gravette Public Schools, Mercy Medical Center in Rogers and Arkansas ACTE.
Angela graduated from West Fork High School in 1988. She is also a graduate of the University of Arkansas where she earned a bachelor of science in education in 1993 and also a master's of science in 1997, all with highest honors. She also received her nursing degree from NWACC in 2012 as the distinguished graduate of her class.
Angela was also a four-year member of the Arkansas Razorback Marching Band and Hogwild.
Angela was a medical professions and health science teacher for Gravette Public Schools for 19 years. She was also an emergency room RN at Mercy Medical Center. She received many honors associated with the HOSA program at GHS that she created.
Her honors include: Gravette Public Schools Teacher of the Year, 1999/2000 and 2008/2009; Arkansas Outstanding HOSA Advisor of the Year, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014; National Region 2 Outstanding HOSA Advisor of the Year, 2014; 2010 ACTE National Fellow, Region 4; Who's Who Among American Teachers numerous years.
Other contributions include: Arkansas Association of Career and Technical Education president 2013-14; Region 4 Nominating Committee 2014-2016; National ACTE Nominating Committee member 2011-2016; Arkansas ACTE Legislative Task Force 2010-2012; Health Science Technology Education Division president 2009-2011; Arkansas ACTE State Board member 2009-2014; Gravette HS Career and Technical Department chair 2009-2014; Gravette Public Schools Crisis team leader 2009-2014; Gravette Public Schools Crisis Team Medical team leader 2009-2014.
One of the things Angela was most proud of was the numerous state and national awards earned by her students at GHS. Her students earned 281 state HOSA medals, six national HOSA Medals and 38 Top 10 HOSA national finalists.
Visitation will be at Bella Vista Funeral Home July 11, 2014, from 6-9 p.m.
Funeral services for Angela will be held at the Gravette High School Performing Arts Center, July 12, 2014, at 11 a.m. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. at Fall Creek Cemetery in Strickler, Ark.
