George Myrick was the owner of a large self-sustaining plantation in Autauga County which involved extensive planting, milling, lumbering and the raising of livestock which included cattle, horses, sheep and hogs. When Alabama held its first State Fair in Montgomery in 1855, Nancy entered products made on the plantation and won a bronze medal struck by Tiffany in commemoration of the fair, engraved with her name. it has been reproduced on the cover of 'History of Alabama" by Albert burton Moore, husband of a granddaughter.
