FARMINGTON -- Virginia "Jinny" Clark Wylie, 90, a resident of Farmington, died Dec. 17, 2008, at home after suffering from Alzheimer's Disease and a recent bout of pneumonia. She was born in Syracuse, N.Y., on Feb. 20, 1918.
Jinny was the beloved wife of the late Dick Wylie, dear mother of Baron (Brenda) Wylie of Sallisaw, Okla., Jan (Doug) Newingham of Roselle, Ill., Judy Wylie-Rosett of New Hyde Park, N.Y., and the late Rick Wylie; cherished grandmother of the late Sheila Wylie, Tania (Rob) Bentley of Greer's Ferry, Baron Wylie Jr. of Quitman, Brandon Wylie of Higden, Dakota Wylie of Sallisaw, Ashley (David) Bednash of Roselle, Mike (Karl) Newingham of Geneva, Ill., Curt Newingham of Roselle and Renee Rosett of New Hyde Park, N.Y.; loving great-grandmother to Chris, Elijiah, Rachel, Trent, Braylon, Matthew, Maggie, Mike, Megan and Molly. She is also survived by her companion and caregiver, Charlsey Billings of Farmington.
Jinny was born in Syracuse, N.Y., and she completed secretarial school in New York City. While working as a secretary at Cornell University, she met her husband. They lived in Clewiston, Fla., before moving to Fayetteville in 1947 and to Farmington in 1952. After her children began school, Jinny went back to college to become an elementary schoolteacher. She taught second grade in Farmington and at Asbell School in Fayetteville. Jinny was active in Delta Kappa Gamma, Bethel Grove Home Demonstration Club, Retired Teacher's Association and the University of Arkansas Faculty Club. She was a longtime member of First United Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20 at Farmington Cemetery. Chaplain JW Walker will officiate.
