Donald Ray Jackson
80, a resident of Cincinnati, Arkansas, went to be with his Savior Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born August 19, 1934 at Cincinnati Arkansas, the son of Charles Dee and Edna Bessie Marcum Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Dee Jackson, his mother, Edna Bessie Jackson, and two bothers, Dale E and Jerry A Jackson.
He attended elementary school in a small country schoolhouse near their farm. Ninth grade was taught in a newer building in Cincinnati. Donnie graduated from Siloam Springs High School in 1952. After graduation he moved to Kansas City Missouri to search for employment. There he met and married Shirley Jean Plumb in 1955. He was employed a short time by Continental Baking Co Wonder Bread division.
He began studying for his Journeyman Machinist diploma while an apprentice on the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He worked there 5 years before going to work on Chicago Rock Island as a machinist/mechanic for 8 years. He moved his family to Arkansas working for Kansas City Southern for 3 years. Shortly thereafter he began farming and continued until his health would not allow it.
He leaves behind his wife, Shirley, of 60 years. Four children, Kevin Jackson and wife Gail, Jan Whitmore and her husband Eugene, David Jackson and wife Linda, and Jill Barlow of the home. Grandchildren, Eric Jackson, Kimberly Jackson, Staff Sergeant Tyler E Whitmore, serving in Untied States Air Force and currently deployed to Qatar in the Persian Gulf. Kathrine Lyttle and her husband Shane of Siloam Springs, Erica Sorenson and her husband Josh of Owasso, OK , Lindsey Wichern and her husband Steve of Broken Arrow, Kendell Barlow and fiance` Matt Smith of Tulsa, OK, Air Force ROTC Cadet Captain Kalynn Barlow, currently studying in Aman, Jordan and Karterr Barlow of the home. Five great grand children, Garrett Sorenson, Haylee Sorenson, Natalee Sorenson, Dorothy Lyttle, Emelyn Wichern and one about to join our family in February.
He leaves behind a host of family and friends
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2015 - 2:00 P.M. First Assembly of God Lincoln, Arkansas, with Jerry Mizell officiating. The family will receive friends and there will be a viewing from 1:00 until service time at the Church. Internment will be at the Old Union Cemetery in Cincinnati. Grave side services will not be held at the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Jackson, David Jackson, Eric Jackson, Karterr Barlow, Shane Lyttle, Steven Wichern, Josh Sorenson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be SSgt Tyler Whitmore and AFROTC Cadet Capt Kalynn Barlow.
