Notes

Notes for DOROTHY DEAN FOWLER: (by Butch) Dorothy was a very attractive woman and she was involved in a number of activities in school such as basketball. Her younger years were spent moving around with her parents. They lived in northern California and Kansas City among other places. After World War II her family settled in Evansville, Arkansas. It was there that she meet Charles Ray Goldman while he was on emergency leave from Japan because of the death of his mother. In 1949 they married. The first couple of years of married life was spent living in Fayetteville, Arkansas where Charles was an army advisor to the local Army Reserve unit. By the time she was in her early 20's she took herself and her three young children to Germany where Charles had been transferred. She indicated that she enjoyed the life of an army wife. In the early 60's Charles retired from the army and the family had now grown to 5 children. After a year of farming Charles decided that he would try running a business. Dorothy worked in the grocery store most of the day. Most of the house work by that time was being done by the daughters. Two more daughter were born during this period. In the late 60's she took employment in Stilwell, Oklahoma working in the one of the newly formed war on poverty agencies as a bookkeeper/contract specialist. In 1969 her father passed away and a few months later she left Charles. She took care of her mother who's health started to decline almost immediately after the death of her husband. After her mother passed away, she moved to Lincoln, Arkansas. She also took a position at the Watts, Oklahoma Public Schools as a bookkeeper and kept that job until she retired due to illness just prior to her own death. Dorothy loved politics and was a strong supporter of the Democratic party and all it's candidates. She also liked Arkansas Razorback football and basketball games.
