Donald Wayne Watts
86, a resident of Fayetteville, Arkansas, went to be with his Lord, March 3, 2009. He was born August 16, 1922 in Durham, Arkansas the son of Manuel and Julia B. Collins Watts.
He was a member of Windwood Baptist Church in Fayetteville, a former Navy Signalman who served aboard the USS Craven DD382 during the period of September 15, 1942 to October 19, 1945 he received 10 Battle Stars, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, American Theater, European Theater and Combat Action Ribbon. He was Honorable Discharged from the United States Navy on May 30, 1961. He was a retired Captain with the Fayetteville Fire Department where he served for 20 years. He then retired as Safety Director for the University of Arkansas.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-four years, Maggie Watts of the home; one daughter in-law, Janice Watts of Fayetteville, Arkansas; one grandson Shawn Watts and wife Jennifer Watts of Fayetteville, Arkansas; one granddaughter Whitney Leblanc and her husband Jerry Leblanc of Little Rock, Arkansas; four great grandchildren, John Tyler and Julia Watts, Isaac and Elijah Bustamante, and Gabriella Leblanc.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 5, 2009 - 10:00 a.m. at the Eastside Baptist Church, Fayetteville, Arkansas, with James Goff officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
