Billy Joe Bartholomew
81, a resident of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, went to be with his Lord on October 7th, 2021, at Circle of Life Hospice Center in Springdale, Arkansas. He was born June 2, 1940, in Hogeye, Arkansas, the son of Argil C. and Emma Bell Carney Bartholomew.
Billy Joe graduated from Prairie Grove High School in 1958. With his family, he owned and operated the Washington County Livestock Auction in Fayetteville, AR that was in operation for 73 years. He served as a member and president of the Prairie Grove School Board and Ozarks Electric Cooperative. He also served on the Board of Directors for many other organizations such as; Bank of Fayetteville, Farmers and Merchants Bank later known as Arvest Bank, and Washington County Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Company.
He was a lifelong member of the Prairie Grove United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities and donated the land the church currently sits on.
Billy Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Argil C. and Emma Bell Carney Bartholomew and his sister, Phyllis Orr.
Survivors include Willene Bartholomew along with three sons, Cary Bartholomew and wife Kori, Steve Bartholomew and wife Mary, Mitch Bartholomew and wife Mandy, all of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, eight grandchildren, Dustin Bartholomew and wife Brandy, Dara Fernandes and husband Tim, Dallas Bartholomew, Colt Bartholomew and wife Natalie, Brea Gragg and husband Shelby, Weston Bartholomew and wife Lauren, Camree Bartholomew, Rayleigh Bartholomew, eight great grandchildren, Brody Bartholomew, Rubee Fernandes, Hudson Bartholomew, Jetta Fernandes, Evelyn Bartholomew, Ellison Gragg, Witten Bartholomew, and Sutton Gragg, one brother, Dwight Bartholomew and wife Sandy, one brother-in-law, Burl Orr, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service will be Monday, October 10, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Prairie Grove United Methodist Church in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. Burial will be at the Prairie Grove Cemetery in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. There will be no public graveside service.
