Notes

Notes From Ruby Garrett:

Sarah Morris was considered to be a hard women. She traveled form Indiana to Arkansas pregnant with her husband and 4 boys. According to Ethel Goldman's diary she lost the baby girl along the way. The four boys walked the whole way from Indiana. The oldest son William Moses herd cattle on the trip. Polk made the boys hats out of wheat straw to wear on their journey.

Sarah once chased off a suitor of her youngest child Dolly with a frying pan. She was known for whipping her grandchildren Linnie and Chad if they didn't play favor to her youngest child Dolly. All these children were about the same age.

Sarah was a tall, stout, Irish woman. In her picture's she appears to be trying to shorten herself to appear less tall beside her short husband Martin James "Polk". She obviously liked hat's and had her picture made often with she and the girl's (Dolly and Bertha) wearing them.
