Luedell M. Kley

83 a resident of Lincoln, passed away December 3, 2013 at her home. She was born January 30, 1930 in Brownfield, Texas, the daughter of Ira Dewitt and Mary Nealie Green Oden.

She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church in Lincoln, Arkansas.

Luedell lived a life of service to the community and a deep commitment to veterans and their families. She was the Arkansas Apple Festival Chairperson for seven years. Luedell gave countless hours to help make Miss Apple Harvest Queen Pageant a successful and beneficial event for young ladies. For many years her weekly local news column in the Lincoln Leader was widely read and appreciated.

Luedell served several years on the Washington County Red Cross board of directors. She was the Director of the Washington County Volunteer Emergency Medical Service virtually from its inception. She taught Sunday School for ten years.

The Lincoln Area Citizen of the Year award was presented to Luedell by the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce.

Her commitment to the veterans was reflected in her thousands of hours of volunteer work at the Fayetteville Veterans Administration facility for over thirty years. She served for many years as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Lincoln VFW Post 4675 Auxiliary. Luedell was a president of the Lincoln American Legion Auxiliary and an Auxiliary District Officer for several years.

Luedell always had a great commitment to serving her country and community throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Kley in November of 1988.

Survivors include one daughter, Carrie Reanell "Rainy" Laycox and her husband, Russell of Lincoln, Arkansas; one grandson, Damon Cabot Laycox and his wife Tammy of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; three great grandchildren, Angela Joyce Laycox of Pea Ridge, Mitchell Ryan Laycox of Farmington and Freedom Shiloh Laycox also of Pea Ridge.

The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Luginbuel Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 9, 2013 - 1:00 P.M. at Lincoln Central United Methodist Church in Lincoln, Arkansas with burial in Sugar Hill Cemetery.
