Cyrus Harding “Cy” - “C.H.” Green
age 92 a resident of Lincoln, went to be with his Lord on December 31, 2013 at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born July 3, 1921 in Fly Creek, Arkansas, the son of Algie and Bertha Mae Cox Green.
Cy worked in the oil fields in the panhandle of Texas, Firestone Rubber in Gladewater, Texas and for the CC’s driving heavy equipment trucks helping to build roads and parks.
He met Jannette Snodgrass in Lincoln while working in the hayfield on her dad’s property. Cyrus went to California to build Boeing Airplane parts. He called for Janette to come to California with his sister Myrtle and husband Bob. They were married June 18, 1943 by a Justice of the Peace in Yuma, Arizona because they didn’t want to wait three days in California. Some years later they purchased a 300-acre farm on Fly Creek.
He was twenty six years old when he was saved in Kilgore, Texas. Shortly after he began ministry traveling with guitar and preached revivals all over the Southern US. He was an ordained minister with the United Pentecostal Church. He was a minister for 66 years and never wavered.
In his later years after his wife passing he learned to become a good cook. He loved to tell and hear a good joke, loved his family night and playing chicken foot weekly. His most enjoyable thing to do was to talk about God and the scriptures, and he lead many to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Annie Janette and his half sister Zelma Barkley.
Survivors include four sons Bobby Darrell Green of Prairie Grove, Kenneth Dale Green of Houston, Texas, Dennis Ray Green and wife Theda of Anna, Texas, and Randy Eugene Green of Zephyrhills, Florida; two daughters Betty Lou Green and Linda Sue Hassell both of Lincoln; one brother, Willard Green of Harrison, Arkansas; four sisters, Myrtle Ray, Wilma Myers and Zelta Mae Harrison all of Springdale and Mary Frances Brock of California; nine grandchildren, Charles Baldwin, Sandra Willis, Shane Green, Daren Green, Britian Green, Jason Green, Andrea Green, Vonetta Naquin, and Katina Hockenberry; nineteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
The family will receive friends, Friday afternoon from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 4, 2014 - 2:00 P.M. at The Sanctuary in Lincoln. Burial will be in Cox Cemetery in Clyde. There will be no graveside service held at the cemetery.
