Julianna Elizabeth Lizzie Luginbill was the second daughter born to John and Elizabeth Welti Luginbill. She was born in a log cabin March 20, 1862, almost 8 years after her parents established their home along the banks of the Four Mile after leaving thier home in Andrew County, Missouri.
She received her education at a school near her home. She was baptized on was a member of the Four Mile Reformed Church, which she attended faithfully throughout her life.
She married Christian Christ Ast. They selected a homestead three quarters of a mile from her parents' home.
Following the death of her husband, she chose to remain on the farm to reaise her children. Elizabeth was known for her hard work, homemade bread and cheese sandwiches, and love of family and friends.
Her son Bill lived with his mother and when old enough helped with the farming. He passed away on April 12, 1974.
