EDMISTON, William Henderson died May 30, 1901, was born June 27, 1834 in Washington County, Arkansas the son of Davis Crawford and Rebekah Thornton Edmiston. He was a farmer, a Democrat and a Cumberland Presbyterian. He served with the 34th Arkansas Infantry. He married Elizabeth Goddard, daughter of Jess Goddard on February 16, 1868. (15) WILLIAM HENDERSON 4 EDMISTON, {David Crawford, 3 etc.), was born 27 June l834; d. 20 May 1901; m. l6 Feb. 1857, Washington County, Ark., to Elizabeth Augusta Godard, (Dau. of Jesse and Mary Godard), b. 22 Dec. 1837; d. 18 Aug. 1895.
On 9 Aug. 1866, Tandy M. Godard, and wife Lucinda, Martin L. Godard and wife Margaret, Wm. Edmiston and wife Elizabeth, Greenlee L. Godard and wife Eliza Jane, Columbus E. Godard, and wife Narcissa, all of first part, sold to Wm. Godard of the second part, for %60, a tract of 19 acres. Witnesses: W.L. Tankersley and H.P. Ross. On 17 Dec. 1861, Jesse Godard sold land to his daughter Elizabeth A. Edmiston, of Crawford Co., Ark. Witnesses was Joseph Stout and A. Shannon.
The will of William Henderson Edmiston was dated 2 March 1900 and Probated 27 May 1901. His real and personal property was to be divided equally between Mary E. Pyeatt, wife of Frank Pyeatt, Willie F Ives, wife of? Ives; Charles H. Edmiston; R. Ruth Shelby, wife of Ben Shelby; and J. Walter Edmiston. The witnesses were Thom. J. Campbell and T. E. Hodges. Executors: Brother David A. Edmiston and son Charles H. Edmiston. On 5 June 1901, D.A. Edmiston, and Charles H. Edmiston, as executors, gave bond in the amount of $4000 with Alex W. Evans and J.S. Edmiston as securities.
