Floyd H. Rankin, 77, of 915 W. Mary died at 8:52 p.m. May 31 in University Hospitals, Iowa City.
He was born Feb. 26, 1905, in Ottumwa to Walter W. and Anna Younkin Rankin. A lifetime Ottumwa resident, he worked for John Deere for 37 years, retiring Sept. 30, 1970. He was a member of Willard Street United Methodist Church, Masonic Empire Lodge 269, Clinton Chapter 9, Ottumwa Council 31, Malta Commandery 31, Law Twelve and Kaaba Shrine in Davenport. He was a member and Past Patron of Rose Chapter 552 in Order of Eastern Star, member and Past Watchman of Shepherds Wapello White Shrine 4 and member and Past Patron of Amaranth Christina Court 3. He married Zoe Manson Aug. 1, 1931.
Survivors: his wife; son Charles W. “Bill” of Santee, Calif.; daughters Beverly Lubbe of East Moline, Ill., and Barbara “Bobbie” Newman of Elwood, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and sister Creta [sic-should be Careta] Friend of Sioux City.
Service: 11 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home, the Rev. Wilbert Trusheim of his church officiating. Burial: Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Masonic service: 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial: St. Joseph Hospital.
