FAYETTEVILLE - Dale Newlin, 92, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, died Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at the Veterans Hospital. He was born March 29, 1917, in Cherokee, Oklahoma, the son of Charles and Rhoda Clark Newlin.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys, granddaughter Pam Denzer and stepdaughter Betty Lou Sargent.

He is survived by three daughters, Peggy Smothers and husband Don of Rogers, Arkansas, Shirley Smith and husband Rex and Jackie Long, all of West Fork. Also one son, Doug Newlin of West Fork. He has twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Saturday, July 11, 2009, at 10:00 AM at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville. Visitation will be Friday, July 10, 2009, from 6 to 8 PM at Beard's Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville. Rev. Scott Miller will officiate.
