Wedington, Washington County, Arkansas
CABE, John - John Cabe died in peace at his residence near Wedington, Washington county, Ark. May 7, 1890. He was born August 30, 1819. He has lived in Washington county for many years and was well and favorably known and much beloved by all his community. He spent most of his life in sin, trying to provide for the present and neglecting the future. But to the comfort of family and friends, in a revival meeting held at Wedington in 1888 he gave his heart to God and united with the M.E. church [South} in which he lived until the day of his death. As to his life up to the time of conversion, for a man of the world, he was a model - generous, kind-hearted, and true to one and all. When he undertook anything, he went with his whole might. After his conversion he loved the Church and made it his chief aim to please God and to do something in his vineyard. He has left an example for both his children and friends to follow. As a father his chief object was to make the home comfortable - to make wife and children happy. Brother Cabe was a friend to the needy. We feel that this neighborhood has lost one of its best men and the Church a true member. He leaves his wife and two or three children to mourn his departure. Others of his family had gone on before. Wm. Sherman.
